Greece is a small country traditionally associated with the colour blue. Situated at the edge of Europe, it is enveloped in a shimmer of blue -by its national flag, its sky and its light. At least that is what the language of sentiment states-a shared legacy that has been developed by its people and by the gaze of countless generations. If Greece is blue, then let us imagine it on the map. To the north, lie the Balkans with their green meadows and grey mountain peaks. To the east, lies Asia Minor with the brown-red hues of its soil woven like an oriental rug. To the south, Egypt and Libya remind us of golden sands and, to the west, is Italy with its carmine and apricot-coloured tints, the colour of rust and vines reflected on the melancholic faces of its baroque houses.
